How to Accept Jesus

Sin.  It’s because of sin that everyone needs to accept Jesus.  We’ve all done it.  Even one lie is enough to permanently separate you from Him, for all eternity.  Why it’s like this, I don’t know.  But what I do know it’s about God’s holiness, or wholeness.

There can’t be any sin in heaven.  So, God made a way to atone for our sins and that’s through Jesus, by accepting Him as your savior.  Prior to Jesus, God instituted a sacrificial system, as a way for people to atone.  Consider sin as an unpaid credit card debt, that cannot be paid by humans, in any way.  The sacrificial system allowed to have that debt erased, but this system was only meant to be temporary.

Then came Jesus, who is God, entered into this world, as a man.  He came as a humble servant.  But he also came as the ultimate sacrifice, which made the old system obsolete.  As Jesus was dying on the cross, all the world’s sin past, present and future was put on Him.  So, by accepting and following Jesus, allows your debt to be paid, in full.

Why does it have to be this way?  We are not sure.  But it’s how God decided to deal with sin.

The question that everyone will need to answer is, do I want to spend eternity with God or not.  It’s ok if you are not sure or want more information.  But it’s a decision everyone will answer whether it be through action or inaction.

There aren’t any special words to say.  It’s a matter of the heart, then words.

Suffice to say, you can say as little or as much, as you want.  But if I had to whittle everything down to the basics, it would be like this:

 “God, I am sorry for my sins and I accept, your son Jesus’ gift of salvation, and I will attempt to follow you from this point on.”

That’s it.  Say it in your own way is perfectly acceptable.
